Back in February, Forecast shut its doors for three weeks to expand. In addition to adding a lot more personal style, renovations brought the space up to 16 chairs and almost doubled the original floorspace. “These changes were made to provide a healthy work environment where stylists can thrive,” says co-founder Brittany McNaughton.

Returning visitors and friends will notice some changes in the new space’s color scheme and decorations. “With the extra space, the black and white looked clinical,” says co-founder Mark Hyde. “It’s a tropical oasis for our stylists. We started adding plants, picked out a flamingo wallpaper, and the vision just came together.”

Even though both Mark and Brittany had planned an expansion almost from the beginning, they didn’t expect their original location to grow with the business. “This expansion happened because the universe basically willed it to be,” says Brittany. “We had been looking at opening a second location, but nothing had happened. A while back, our landlord wanted to retire and offered us the space. It was very natural.”

The expansion in place also allowed Forecast to add a dedicated education and event space. In addition to hosting future classes from in-house and guest educators, it will also be home to regular events featuring local artists and vendors.

“It’s so cool to be able to take our almost 40 years of combined experience and deliver something different,” says Mark. “It might not be for everyone, but it’s really special to us.”
